Hi. My name is Erfairiziee Deraman. I come from Kota Belud, Sabah. My dad is a pure folk of Kota Belud and a Bajau. He has a bit of Irranun blood.
My mom is Iban. Both of her great-grandparents migrated from a small village in Sarawak to Sabah. I speak fluent Bajau and the same goes with mum and dad. Besides that dad can speak Kadazan too!
By this time, I just finished my degree in Teaching English for Young Learners, a 6 years course. I have spent my entire teenager life for 6 years right after my secondary school, in Penang and Kedah.
I learnt a lot about other cultures there and yet I too somehow taught my friends from other states about my own, our Sabahan cheritage. The chances of exchanging such knowledge have taught me to be proud of our own culture.
I am so proud to be a Sabahan as we share different values harmoniously among us, although we come from different races. This makes me one ‘fabulous’ Sabahan! 🙂
I love volunteering in charities, helping people in need especially through education and of course through English Awareness. I hope that every kid especially Sabahan youngsters would have the opportunities to learn English Language in a better way.
Plus, I love sharing my thoughts through creative writing and poems. Please do come and visitvmy blog at akuer.blogspot.com or simply reach me on tweeter @fairizderaman. 🙂
